FAQs

How do I get to Tucson?

Flights to Phoenix (PHX) are frequent and direct from all over the country. Tucson is about a 2-hour drive from Phoenix. But the drive is pleasant and enjoyable -- saguaro cactuses line the highway, and mountains are all around. Tucson also has its own airport (TUS), but you'll likely have to connect to fly right into town.

Do I need to rent a car?

Probably. If you fly into Phoenix, renting a car is a great idea. If you fly right into Tucson, you could Uber/Lyft around the city. But Tucson is definitely a driving city -- other than the historic downtown area, it's not really walkable. You could always gather a group to share the costs of a rental car! We're happy to help you coordinate where we can.

Where should I stay?

We are not doing a traditional room block, because there are honestly just too many options at too many price points. If you want something basic and easy, the Hilton East is your best bet. For a more luxurious trip, try the Loews Ventana Canyon or the Westin La Paloma. Don't forget to check out Air BnBs or cheaper hotel/motel options if that suits you better!

Dress code?

For the Welcome Reception, very casual. We know you're all traveling into town, so come as you are -- jeans, leggings, shorts, whatever is easy is fine!

For the Wedding, formal, semi-formal, or cocktail attire is great. We're not picky and we want you to be comfortable! The venue is indoor/outdoor. The ceremony and cocktail hour will be outdoor, on grass (keep that in mind if you intend to wear heels), and dinner and dancing will be inside an elegant but rustic barn. October in Tucson is usually warm during the day and cooler at night, so keep an eye on the forecast.

How do we get to the venue?

You can drive to the venue, which is about 20-25 minutes from the hotels we've recommended. There is ample parking on site.

We have arranged a shuttle bus to depart from the Hilton East at 3:30 p.m. and to return there at the end of the night, where you could park and leave your car or Uber. We won't be there with a list, so please use the buddy system and make sure everyone who should be on the bus is in fact there! If you did not RSVP for a spot on that bus but have changed your plans, please let us know so we can see whether we can accommodate you.

Please be warned: Uber and Lyft will not go to this venue, nor will they pick you up from it.

Why Tucson?

Molly grew up going to Tucson to visit family for holidays. Elizabeth has always had a soft spot for desert light and the Southwest. When we were brainstorming wedding locations, Tucson stood out as a beautiful city, with lots of charm and lots of nature. Plus the venue is stunning -- just wait!

We move back to the East Coast the week after our wedding, so this is our last hurrah in Arizona. We can't wait to celebrate with you!

Why is your wedding plant-based?

We want our wedding to be as joyful as possible! We are both passionate about animal rights and environmental sustainability. Over 99% of all animal products in the United States come from factory farms. Animal agriculture consumes large amounts of land, water, and food, and pollutes waterways and airways. If you are interested in reducing your own animal consumption, check out vegan.com, minimalistbaker.com, or vegnews.com. For more information about factory farming, check out Sentient Media and the Animal Welfare Institute, both of which have great content, news, and explanatory publications. If you're looking for a deeper dive, we recommend: Wastelands by Corbin Addison; Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer; Once Upon a Time We Ate Animals by Roanne van Voorst; or Animal Liberation by Peter Singer.

When do I need to RSVP by?

September 21, 2023 please!
